Songs of Hope

Edmonton’s Greenwood Singers closes its 38th season with Songs of Hope. The program will open with two motets by William Byrd, “Sing Joyfully” and “I will not leave you comfortless,” and John Blow’s “God is Our Hope and Strength.” The theme of hope continues in Z. Randall Stroope’s setting of Robert Lowry’s well-known hymn, “How Can I Keep from Singing,” Robert Young’s “A Psalm of Hope,” and Randall Thompson’s “Ye Shall Have a Song” from The Peaceable Kingdom. The balance of the program includes three arrangements of gospel songs, arrangements of popular songs and songs from the Broadway stage, all with texts filled with hope. Don’t miss this evening of uplifting music.
